ann Bickerton

 Ann Bickerton is proud to live and work in Mar Vista where you can find her running on the Rec Center fields, eating enchiladas at Grand View Market, and riding her bike down Venice Blvd.  With over a decade in the nonprofit sector, Annie implements social policy related to the justice system and social safety net. As an organizer, Annie is focused on improving women and Millenials' political representation. She is VP of Membership for the Heart of LA Democratic Club and recently served on the organizing committee for a new chapter of Emerge. She also designs workshops and retreats on social change and civic engagement for Millennials.  Annie has a M.S. in Nonprofit Management from The New School and a B.A. in Government from Hamilton College.

served on the organizing committee for a new Emerge chapter and produce weekend retreats
and educational programming for Millennials around civic engagement."

I am a passionate advocate for social and economic opportunity. I currently work for a
nonpartisan policy organization where I focus on solutions for vulnerable families and
individuals connected to the criminal justice and social welfare systems. I believe that the
Democratic party can leverage evidence and a commitment to our shared values to promote
address the mounting economic pressure on working families and our most vulnerable.

Dr. Diandra “Dee” BremondPicture
Dr. Diandra “Dee” Bremond is a gubernatorial appointee by Governor Jerry Brown who serves on the Cannabis Control Appeals Panel.  Prior to the appointment, Dr. Bremond served as the Director of Trauma-Informed Youth Development Programs at the Brotherhood Crusade in South Los Angeles.  Dr. Bremond holds a Master of Public Policy and a Doctorate of Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University. Additionally, Dr. Bremond holds an adjunct professorship at University of Southern California's Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. Dr. Bremond resides in Leimert Park and is a progressive Democrat.


Lindsay Carlson
Lindsay Carlson* lives in Culver City with her husband Scott Crichton, one year old son Archie, and three rescue dogs.  She is a UCLA law graduate and practicing lawyer.  Lindsay is the President and a co-founder of the Heart of L.A. Democratic Club, one of the sponsors of the amazingly successful Westside Democratic HQ during the 2018 midterm elections.  She is the former Chair of the Board of Directors of Girls on the Run of Los Angeles, and has worked with Public Counsel to provide pro bono legal assistance to people experiencing homelessness, the elderly, and low-income individuals.  She believes in an inclusive, transparent and accessible Democratic Party where everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a seat at the table.

​Juana Rosa Cavero
 ​Juana Rosa Cavero  is the immediate past president of the Mid-City Neighborhood Council (MINC) where she worked to ensure that local funds were re-invested into the neighborhood, such as books for local schools, urban-farming programs, and respite support to families living with Alzheimer’s. She has been a speaker at the Women’s March Los Angeles 2017 and 2018, and serves on the Board of the Black Women’s Democratic Club, the first statewide Dem Club dedicated to expanding the current political participation of Black women voters and candidates. She is also a founding member of the National Organization for Women – South Los Angeles Chapter. Juana Rosa is proud of the home she shares with her husband and two kids in Jefferson Park. 

Naomi Goldman
Naomi Goldman is a lifelong Democratic activist, longtime Westwood resident and proud UCLA graduate, alumni mentor and UCLA volunteer program leader. She was just named to The Jewish Journal’s 13th Annual Mensch List, which spotlights Jewish Angelenos who donate their time and efforts to strengthening our community.  With 20+ years in public affairs, Naomi directs public education, issue and policy advocacy efforts around pressing social issues and currently leads communications for Los Angeles County around its comprehensive efforts to combat and prevent homelessness.  Naomi also has a specialization in public safety and is an American Red Cross disaster responder and a founding Board member of Women in Homeland Security–Southern California.

Kristian Huling
Kristian Huling is a political coordinator for SEIU Local 721, representing over 90,000 workers in California. In this position, she mobilizes union members to support money bail reform in California, stop cuts to the public safety net, and fight against critical cuts to the Affordable Care Act. Huling has served as a campaign coordinator for various progressive candidates and organizations including the Los Angeles African American Voter Education Participation Project (AAVREP). In 2017, Huling played an instrumental role in organizing her neighbors to form the Concerned Community Members for the Chesapeake Apartments (CCMCA) which intervened in a harmful lawsuit that had the potential to massively evict tenants from their homes in the Crenshaw/Baldwin Village neighborhood.

Michelle Reed
​Michelle Reed has been an organizer for most of her life.​ ​​As a union and grassroots activist within the 54th Assembly District, Michele Reed has a history of​ fighting to make sure the voices of our communities are heard. Michele currently serves as an executive​ ​board member for Service Employees International Union, Local 2015. Under her leadership, she​ ​continues to stand on the frontline to address issues of income inequality, criminal justice reform, and​ ​protecting the working class through organizing.​ ​Michele is ​also a national delegate of the Western Region ​of SEIU-AFRAM​, and a member of the Black Women’s Democratic Club, Los Angeles Black Worker​ ​Center, Community Coalition, and the LA County Federation of Labor Member Delegation.

David Bocarsly
David Bocarsly believes that our party needs passionate progressive activists guiding us forward, with leaders evidencing a proven commitment to fighting for our values. David has been doing this work both in the streets and in the halls of government—organizing mass actions and campaigns around immigration, criminal justice reform, and affordable housing, and pushing a progressive agenda in Senator Ben Allen’s office. David would be a strong voice in ensuring the party continues to lead the fight for race, class, and gender equity, and to protect and support the most vulnerable among us.  His past experience includes being elected UCLA Student Body President, selected as a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs, and a Master of Public Policy and Social Justice at the USC Price School.

Isaac Bryan
​Isaac Bryan is a policy shaper, published scholar, and community advocate. His work has influenced both state and local legislation, including advancing community movements around issues of racial, economic, and social justice. Isaac currently serves as the Policy Advisor to the UCLA Ralph J. Bunche Center and the Policy Director for the Million Dollar Hoods Project, where he works closely with faculty and students to bridge the gap between academic research and political decision making. Isaac received his Masters in Public Policy from UCLA, co-authored the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Commission report on Employment Equity, and sits on the LAUSD Youth Diversion Taskforce, with the goal of making sure every student maintains their right to a safe education.

Bernard Dory
Bernard Dory is an experienced community organizer and public servant. He was an organizer for Los Angeles Metropolitan Churches (LAM) and Regional Congregations and Neighborhood Organizations (RCNO).  He also was mentored by Anthony Thigpenn as Program Coordinator for the Alliance of Local Leaders for Education, Registration, and Turnout (ALLERT).  There he contacted and data-based more than 400,000 unique voters throughout Los Angeles County.  Bernard has been legislative aid and deputy chief of staff at the Los Angeles City Council and a field representative and district director in the State Assembly.   He is currently the senior field representative for the 54th Assembly District.

Nick Greif
Nick Greif has been working for the past five years as a progressive Democratic leader in Los Angeles as the current Chief of Staff to Democratic City Councilmember David Ryu where he has led on building homeless housing (including the LGBT Center in Hollywood), improving education (Child Savings Accounts for all LAUSD students), and expunging prior misdemeanor convictions for street vendors to prevent deportations. Previously, Nick worked with LA Mayor Eric Garcetti to successfully raise the Minimum Wage to $15/hr. In his local community, Nick served as the President of the Palms Neighborhood Council and is a member of the LA County Young Democrats (LACYD), West LA, Heart of LA, AD 54, and Stonewall Democratic Clubs and a current AD 54 delegate for State Senator Holly Mitchell.

Max Kanin
​Max Kanin is a lifelong Democrat and LGBTQIA Civil Rights activist.  He has served as a Delegate to the California Democratic Party since 2013, where he has been a member of both the Credentials and Voter Services committees.  Born and raised in Holmby-Westwood, he works as a campaign finance law and election law attorney for Democratic candidates and progressive political organizations.  Among others, he has worked for Representative Eric Swalwell, Representative Nanette Barragan, Representative Katie Hill, Assemblywoman Christy Smith, and the Heart of LA Democratic Club.  He currently serves on the City of West Hollywood Ethics Task Force Reform Commission.

Andrew Lewis
Andrew Lewis is a life-long resident of the 54th Assembly District. Born and raised in Westwood Village, he later attended UCLA to study Political Science.  Andrew then went on to work for the Los Angeles Mayors Office doing local Sustainability policy work, the Barack Obama Presidential Re-Election Campaign, and was recently elected as a Council Member to the North Westwood Neighborhood Council.  Andrew currently sits on the Board of Directors for both the San Fernando Valley Young Democrats, and the LA County Young Democrats. He has an incredibly deep connection and commitment to the 54th Assembly District as well as the Democratic Party and Democrats across the State. Andrew looks forward to representing the 54th Assembly District as an ADEM Delegate.

David Lyell
​David Lyell is proud to run as a member of the incredibly diverse Grassroots Progressives for AD 54 Team — the team lives and works all the way across this beautiful District! David is a Substitute Teacher with LAUSD and a member of the United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) Substitute Teachers Committee.  Along with five other activists in 2010, David marched 365 miles over 48 days from Bakersfield to Sacramento as part of the "March for California's Future," advocating for tax fairness and essential public services.  They’re still marching!  David ran an independent, low-budget, grassroots campaign in 2011, and served as the elected UTLA Secretary from 2011-14.
